The Indian automotive scene is quite a competitive one for the brands. All of them have to be on their toes to survive. Even with this, some manufacturers have managed to rake in good sales, clearly highlighted by the 4% growth in March 2023 from March 2022. Still, some manufacturers are struggling big time and one of them is Jeep. Jeep is experiencing a horrendous time in the country. In today’s article, let’s talk about the Jeep India 2023.
Low sales
As mentioned above, Jeep is struggling in the Indian market. At a time very most manufacturers are showcasing positive growth, Jeep has seen a sales drop of 47% compared to March 2022. In March, it recorded sales of only 680 units sitting plumb last in the sales chart. Even Citroen has overtaken the American brand in the few years it has been in the market.
Current products
Currently, Jeep has four products in its lineup: Meridian, Compass, Grand Cherokee and the Wrangler. The Compass once had decent sales, but of late it is not doing that well. Even Meridian is not doing that well facing the heat from the Toyota Fortuner and Hyundai Tucson. The Wrangler and Grand Cherokee are niche products so they are not expected to bring a high number.
Jeep India 2023 – What does the future hold?
This seems to be a problem with the Jeep, it doesn’t have a proper plan for the Indian market. Currently, the brand doesn’t have any upcoming products. So will the manufacturer exit the market? The Jeep brand has big stakes in the country with India being its manufacturing hub. So it doesn’t seem Jeep will want to quit so easily. In terms of upcoming products, Jeep should bring the Avenger to India. It could become an attractive product in the compact SUV segment.
