Volkswagen affordable EV coming to India?
Volkswagen as a brand is on an upward trajectory in the country. Though the growth has been slow, it still considers India an important part of its growth in the future. Recently, the brand did the global unveiling of its ID 2all concept. The ID 2all will be the brand’s most affordable EV offering, so will it come to India? In today’s article, let’s talk about Volkswagen ID 2all India.
Dimensions & Design
The ID 2all concept comes with a sleek design. Volkswagen has tried to incorporate the design language of its current ICE cars like the Polo and Golf, into this concept. The side profile is clean with no major cuts & creases. At the rear, we have a connected taillamp design with the VW logo in the middle. Talking about the dimensions, the ID 2all is 4,050mm long, slightly longer than the Polo sold outside India. Its wheelbase will be 2600mm offering a lot of space in the interior.
Volkswagen ID 2all India – Specifications
The ID 2all will come with a front-wheel-drive motor capable of producing 223bhp. What about the battery options? The concept can come with two battery back options – at 38kWh and 56kWh. The 56kWh has a claimed range of 450km, while the brand hasn’t revealed the range of the smaller battery pack. In terms of charging, the brand claims that the 56kWh battery pack can go from 0 to 80% charge in 20 minutes approx. The ID 2all has a top speed of 159kph and can do the 0 to 100kph sprint in less than 7 seconds.
Interior and features
Due to the longer wheelbase, the ID 2all will have a lot of space in the interiors. Overall the brand is looking to give the EV a simple and minimalistic interior design. The only distraction in the interior will be the 12.9-inch infotainment system. Volkswagen will be also switching to conventional volume knobs on the ID 2all. Other features include a 10.9-inch digital instrument cluster, AR supportive heads-up display, panoramic sunroof and some ADAS features.
Volkswagen ID 2all India – Launch timeline
Volkswagen has stated that the production version of the ID 2all will be shown in 2025, and in the same year the EV will enter production in Spain. The brand is looking to price the ID 2all below the €25,000 mark, which roughly translates to Rs 22 lakh INR. What about the India launch? Volkswagen hasn’t stated anything about that, but we hope Volkswagen brings the ID 2 all to India.
