New-generation MG Hector

MG updated this SUV in 2021 and is now set to give it a generation-update this year. Yesterday, MG even teased the new 14-inch touchscreen infotainment system which is the biggest portrait unit available in the country. The new-generation car is set to come with refreshed elements that will give it a fresh look. Mechanically, the car is not expected to see any major changes. Moreover, one interesting thing that the Hector would now offer is ADAS.

Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder

The Urban Cruiser Hyryder is Toyota’s version of the Grand Vitara which will see a launch sometime next year. Toyota has made its version unique with new headlamps, tail lamps and alloys. Moreover, the interior has been given a minor difference with unique seating & upholstery colour. Mechanically, both SUVs are the same. Hyundai Tucson

Citroen made its India-debut with the very premium C5 Aircross. This SUV aimed to offer plush driving experience, a stunning design and ultimate cabin comfort. However, even after offering all of this, it has failed to draw in impressive sales for the brand, mainly due to its high pricing. Now, the brand is all set to bring in a facelift for the SUV which has already been unveiled in the global markets. The facelift comes with some minor design changes including reworked headlamps, tail lamps, bumpers and alloy wheels. The interiors also see a significant update with a new touchscreen and dashboard layout. Mechanically, the car is expected to remain the same.

IONIQ 5

Hyundai’s next big ambition for India is the IONIQ 5. This electric SUV shares its underpinnings with the Kia EV6. Hyundai will be launching it sometime this year. Mechanically, it is expected to come with battery packs: a 58kWh pack and a 72.6kWh pack. The former offers a claimed range of up to 385km, while the latter offers a claimed range of up to 481km. RWD and AWD drivetrains are also expected to be made available. RWD setup (base trim) makes 168bhp & 350Nm of torque, while the AWD setup makes 301bhp & 605Nm of torque. Different combinations of battery pack and drivetrains are expected to be on offer. Pricing is expected to be somewhere around Rs 50 lakh (ex-showroom).

Hyundai Creta facelift

Hyundai has already unveiled the Creta facelift in Indonesia and South Africa. The next market for them is expected to be India. Creta has been waiting for a facelift for quite sometime now and is expected to receive it this year. The facelift will come with a new design elements. moreover, Hyundai is also expected to add new features to the Creta facelift, with the biggest of them being the ADAS. Apart from this, a fully-digital instrument cluster, 360-degree camera and multi-colour ambient lighting are also expected to be added. Mechanically, the Creta is expected to remain the same. The Land Cruiser is Toyota’s must-rugged yet premium SUV. It is a perfect blend of plush cabin experience with the most capable powertrain & drivetrain combination. The new-generation Land Cruiser comes powered by a 3.5-litre V6 petrol engine that will be capable of making 409bhp & 649Nm of torque and a 3.3-litre V6 diesel engine that is capable of producing 302bhp & 700Nm of torque. A 10-speed automatic gearbox is on offer this time. The Land Cruiser is touted to see a launch sometime in August or September.

Mahindra XUV400

Mahindra is set to make a re-entry in the EV space with the upcoming XUV400 which is touted to be unveiled in September. This EV will be based on the original Ssangyong Tivoli platform, meaning it will have a bigger boot on offer and will measure somewhere around 4.2m in length. Mahindra is also updating its compact SUV in the coming months. The XUV300 will get a new variant which will come powered a 1.2-litre T-GDI engine capable of producing 128bhp & 230Nm of torque. This engine is expected to come mated to a six-speed manual unit only. Any other changes are highly unlikely, meaning you will be paying extra for the performance and some visual upgrades.
