Rs 9 lakh car to take on the Maruti Baleno
Hyundai has found great success in the SUV segment in the country. Its top-selling models continue to be the Creta and Venue. But even with the SUV trend, hatchbacks are still important in a country like India. Hyundai knows this and recently updated the Grand i10 Nios. Now Hyundai could also give a facelift to the i20 to take on the Maruti Baleno. In today’s article, let’s talk about the Rs 9 lakh car.
So why are we suddenly talking about the facelift? It’s not like we are just speculating about the facelift. Late last year, the i20 facelift was spotted testing in South Korea. The spotted car had heavy camouflage at the front and the rear. So we can expect some changes on the front and rear. At the rear, we could see a connecting tail lamp design, which Hyundai seems to be making a part of its brand identity.
What could it get?
Other than the exterior changes, the interior could get some minor tweaks. Other than that, Hyundai could give it new upholstery. Any new features we can expect? The i20 is already one of the most feature-loaded cars, but Hyundai could up that by giving ventilated seats, 360 view and auto-dimming IRVM. Specification-wise, the i20 will continue with the 1.2-litre naturally aspirated engine and 1.0-litre turbo petrol. We don’t expect diesel to make a comeback on the i20 facelift.
Rs 9 lakh car – Launch timeline
The i20 facelift is yet to be spotted in testing in India. All the spy shots have been coming from South Korea. Currently, Hyundai seems to be busy with the new Verna launch. After that, the brand could turn its focus toward the Creta and i20 facelifts. Globally, Hyundai could unveil the facelift by the end of 2023, and the India launch could happen in 2024.
