SUVs continue to be the preferred choice in the Indian market. Especially the compact SUV segment as it continues to be an ideal choice for city buyers. One compact SUV that is doing decent numbers is the Renault Kiger. But its numbers are not that great compared to the competition. So Renault could give it an update to boost its sales. In today’s article, let’s talk about this Rs 7 lakh SUV. 

Design changes

The Renault Kiger is a smart-looking car, but still, the car looks quite contemporary. So Renault could give it some subtle changes like a tweaked grille, bumper changes and headlamp position change. Currently, the biggest weakness of the Kiger is its cross-over-like looks. But sadly this being just a facelift, we don’t expect such radical changes in the design. 

Rs 7 lakh SUV – Specifications

Being a facelift, we don’t expect Renault to play with the engine specifications. Currently, the Kiger comes with a 1.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol and a 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine. The 1.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol is capable of producing 71bhp and 96Nm of torque. This engine comes with a 5-MT and AMT gearbox option. The second engine is a 1.0-litre turbo petrol capable of producing 99bhp and 152(MT)/160(CVT). This engine comes with a 5-MT and CVT gearbox. 

Interior and New features?

The Renault Kiger already comes loaded with a lot of features at its price point. Still, Renault can add some features like a sunroof, automatic headlamps, rain-sensing wipers and auto-dimming IRVM. One area where Renault could focus is uplifting the quality of materials used in the cabin. Cost-cutting is understandable, but it will be good if Renault improves the quality a bit.  

Rs 7 lakh SUV – Launch and pricing

Currently, Renault has not stated anything about the Kiger facelift. But the Kiger was launched in 2021 and it will be completing three years soon. Considering the Indian market, it seems logical that Renault updates the Kiger with a facelift. What about the pricing? We expect the new Renault Kiger to get a price hike of Rs 50k to 60k depending upon the variants.
