Kia is riding high on its success streak. It has been launching atleast one blockbuster product every year. So what will it do next? Surprisingly, Kia lacks a mid-size SUV in India. Globally, it has the Sportage. The Sportage could be a perfect competitor to the Tata Harrier in India. In today’s article, we will talk about this Rs 24 lakh Kia Harrier rival. Let’s go.
The Sportage got a generation change in 2021. With this generation change, Kia introduced a short wheelbase and a long wheelbase version. The short wheelbase is 4,515mm in length and has a wheelbase of 2,680mm while the long wheelbase is 4,660mm in length and has a wheelbase of 2,755mm. What about their dimensions? It has a width of 1,865mm and a height of 1,660mm, which is the same on both versions. These dimensions put it exactly between the Tata Harrier and the Safari.
Kia Harrier rival – Design
Like all Kia cars, the Sportage has a radical design language. At the front, we have a huge grille. So where are the headlamps? They are placed adjacent to the LED DRLs. The side profile of the Sportage is similar to the Hyundai Tucson.
Interior & features
The interiors of the Sportage have a familiar site. So which Kia car is it familiar to? Do let us know in the comments. In the middle, we have a floating infotainment system that is connected to the digital instrument cluster. Below that we have the AC controls and three-spoke steering wheel. What about features? The full list will be exhaustive, so some of the highlights features include dual-zone climate control, ventilated seats, 12.3-inch infotainment and an outside mirror memory system.
So what engine options does it get? Globally it comes with a sleeve of options. But if launched in India, it is expected to sport the same engine options as the Tucson. So it could get a 2.0-litre petrol and 2.0-litre diesel engine. It also gets an AWD system for off-road enthusiasts. Globally, the Sportage also gets a plug-in hybrid setup. Would you like to see it in India? Do let us know in the comments.
Kia Harrier rival – Will it come to India?
So now to the big question. Kia has never said anything about bringing Sportage to India. But as Kia establishes itself, it will have to bring more new products to India. The Sportage could be the ideal choice as it has what it takes on the Tata Harrier. If Kia can price it right, it could really find a lot of buyers in India.
