Rs 10 lakh true SUV coming soon
The SUV craze has completely gripped the market with demand for all types of SUVs. Though the definition of SUVs has changed a lot, now buyers are not looking for off-road capabilities or 4×4 as such. 4×4 capable SUVs have become a niche segment. Now Maruti is bringing the Jimny, which is expected to grow this segment. In today’s article, let’s talk about a Rs 10 lakh Jimny.
Design
The overhaul silhouette of the Jimny 5-door is quite similar to the 3-door version. So we have a boxy design with no sharp cuts. At the front, we have circular headlamps with a near-flat bonnet design and the iconic grille design. From the sides, we can see the extended wheelbase and length. The spare tyre is mounted on the rear door with the tail lamp being placed on the rear bumper.
Rs 10 lakh Jimny – Specifications
The Jimny 5-door comes with the old K15B petrol engine capable of producing 101bhp and 130Nm of torque. From the numbers, it seems underpowered for an off-roader like Jimny. However, we will have to wait for the media drive event to comment on that. Transmission options include a 5-speed manual and a 4-speed automatic gearbox. Staying true to its roots, the Jimny comes with Maruti AllGrip Pro (4×4) technology with a low-range transfer gear.
Interiors & Features
Jimny doesn’t get a luxurious interior design, but it’s expected from a rugged off-roader. Still, Maruti has given the Jimny a decent amount of features, but we can see hard plastics all over the cabin. In terms of features, we have a 9-inch infotainment system, ARKAMYs sound system,
Rs 10 lakh Jimny – Launch and pricing
Maruti is yet to give a confirmed launch date for the Jimny. However, it has started promotional activities with the SUV being showcased at various Nexa dealerships. So we can expect the launch to happen in the upcoming two to three months. What about the pricing? We think Maruti will try to price the Jimny below the Rs 10 lakh mark to rival the Thar 2WD. The base variant could get a sticker price of Rs 9.99 lakh (ex-showroom, while the top variants could go till Rs 14 lakh to Rs 15 lakh (ex-showroom).
