If we talk about the sub-compact SUV category, the competition is fierce. There are over 6 cars in this segment offering a bundle of equipment. However, if see Mahindra’s card on the table, it has failed to captivate buyers. Thereby, a need for a facelift update. So, let’s talk about the Mahindra XUV300 facelift.

Mahindra XUV300 facelift – Why is it needed?

If we look at the competition in the market, the XUV300 doesn’t feel up to the mark. Though it gets plenty of features like dual zone AC, sunroof, front parking sensors, etc but the interiors feel dated. The infotainment unit gets an outdated UI which doesn’t feel at par with modern-day standards. Other than this, the XUV300 is a great car with a wide interior cabin, 5-star GNCAP safety, powerful engine options, a new TurboSport engine, and more.

What is expected of it?

Mahindra has based the XUV300 on the SSanYongg Tivoli. For reference, it’s a South Korean compact SUV sold in European markets. The European car gets a slew of features ranging from a 10.25-inch instrument cluster, ADAS, etc. Can Mahindra bring these to India? It is highly doubtful because Mahindra used to own the SsangYong. But, on the current date, this ownership has drawn to a close.

Mahindra could then add some in-house updates rather than adopting them from the Tivoli. The Indian automaker does have its efficient Adrenox infotainment system co-developed with Bosch. After a big touchscreen, it could give the interior a fresh new update. We can expect a similar interior scheme to the Scorpio-N with tan upholstery. To rival its loaded competitors like the Kia Sonet, and Maruti Brezza, ambient lighting, a premium sound system, and a 360-degree camera could be added.

Powertrain changes?

Mahindra does offer powerful set of engines in the XUV300. Recently it started offering its most powerful 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine in the XUV300 TurboSport. If this facelift comes into the market, the TurboSport should also get the updates. All in all, no changes are expected in the powertrain options.

Launch and Pricing

As this could be a facelift update with styling enhancements to the exterior, upgradation of the feature list, and interior updates, the pricing could also go up. On today’s date, the XUV300 is priced at Rs 9.78 lakh (on-road Mumbai). What about the launch? There is no official statement from the brand but looking at its current position in its segment, a facelift update is a must.
