MG started with a bang in the Indian market. Its first product, the Hector surprised everyone with its size, features and aggressive pricing. MG also did quite well to hide its Chinese ownership by promoting British heritage. However, MG now finds itself in no man’s land. It is posting decent sales figures but is nowhere near the initial hype. To combat this, MG has brought updates to all its cars and is working on others. Now, a leaked patent design of the Astor facelift has surfaced online. In today’s article, let’s talk about the 2023 MG Astor facelift.

New patents

The patents were posted online by Greg Kable, a German automotive journalist. In this patent, we can see a revised front design. These patents are of the ZS EV, so it gets closed off the grille. However, we can expect a similar design on the Astor. We also see a new headlamp design and air dam design. The side profile looks more or less identical to the current model. What about the rear? The rear also looks the same with no major changes.

What else to expect?

2023 MG Astor

The Astor already comes with premium interiors, but MG could tweak them a bit to differentiate from the current model. MG could add new features like ventilated seats and auto-dimming IRVM. What about the specifications? Specifications could remain the same considering it’s a facelift. So it will continue with the 1.5-litre naturally aspirated engine and a 1.3-litre turbo-petrol engine. Transmission options include a manual and an automatic option.
